Summer 2018 Orientation Programs – Coming Soon

Are you new to RU and attending an orientation session this summer? Program schedules will be released for each orientation session in addition to helpful orientation reminders.

Important Information - Rutgers Student ID Card


You will need to upload your photo on the Enrollment Pathway at least 10 days before your orientation session (detailed instructions about submitting photo IDs are listed on the Enrollment Pathway). You will receive your ID when you attend your orientation session.

Student Living in Residence

If you did not get your Student ID at New Student Orientation be sure to stop at your Campus ID Card Office BEFORE picking up your Residence Hall key. Your ID card is your access to your residence in addition to the dining hall.  Office addresses and hours of operation can be found here.  For the move-in schedule, please see ruoncampus.rutgers.edu/2017movein.  For questions, please contact resident@rutgers.edu.

Students Living Off-Campus or Commuting

Your ID Card will provide access to the Recreation Centers, Libraries, Dining Halls and can be required for exams. Be sure to make arrangements to get your Student ID card as soon as possible.  You may get your Student ID at any Campus ID Card Office. Addresses and hours of operation can be found here.

  • Karaoke
    Location: Main Lounge
    Do you love to sing? Come show off your talents at the karaoke late night program! Karaoke is a fun program for all, whether you like to sing your favorite tunes, or watch the talents of your fellow Scarlet Knights Students will have an opportunity at this program to pick whatever song they would like from a collective of hundreds of songs. You can have up to four people singing along at one time, so why not invite your OL along if you have some room in your quartet.
  • Cards for Kids:
    Location: 6/7th Floor Lounge
    Do you enjoy community service? Do you want to do community service for the New Brunswick Community? Come make cards of encouragement and warmth for the children who are in Saint Peter’s hospital, which is located in New Brunswick. The crafts being made will go directly to the children having to stay there and will help to brighten their day!
  • Painting Room
    Location: MZ Kitchen
    RU Artistic? Want to bring home a souvenir from orientation? Come paint on canvases and wooden block Rs at the Painting Room. You will have an opportunity to relax and get to socialize with some of the other students that you have been attending orientation with. This is a great opportunity to make something to decorate your room with from Rutgers before you even step foot on campus!
  • Game Room
    Location: 3rd & 4th Floor Quiet Lounges
    Feeling competitive? If you feel like orientation has not been competitive enough, here is your time to shine. There are going to be two rooms for this late night program. In one, we have classic board games such as Life, Clue, and Trivial Pursuit, and in the other room there will be games of Rutgers Bingo going on where you can win some Rutgers gear.
  • Improv
    Location: Reading Room
    Need some comedic relief after a long day of orientation? Have no fear, improv is here! At Improv, students can participate in improvisational comedy games, or just come to watch the show. The orientation staff will be facilitating the games but the fun only really happens when the students get involved! Come out to improv and you might even see your OL breaking out their comedy skills.
